Advancing HR Leadership | Building Business Success | Supporting Our Human Resources

Dear Members, Partners, and Supporters:

This is a thank-you letter to everyone who has championed our vision through their partnerships and member support. In January of 2017, we launched this chapter, and we would not have experienced such a stellar beginning without you. This is also an invitation letter to anyone who has yet to experience the delight of being in the company of brilliant, diverse HR practitioners, corporate professionals, and entrepreneurs whose common goal is to continuously evolve the way they can describe and demonstrate their success.

W.E.B. DuBois said, “Education is the development of power and ideal." It’s time for us to enhance our power and model our ideal by going “back to school” with expanded development and networking events. We also have some surprises in store, so check back regularly for career opportunities, mentoring information, and community support initiatives.

Finally, we look forward to reinforcing our power through our partnerships with the New Jersey Chapter of the Black MBA Association (NBMBAA-NJ), Garden State Bar Association (GSBA) and the NAAAHR Northeast Alliance (NAAAHR-NEA), with whom we have begun a partnership that aligns our chapter with our sister chapters in Connecticut, New England, Western New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Delaware and Washington, DC!

We truly are a force when we’re together. So, get in here!!

Warmly,

Vanessa

Finding the Power in the Pivot: How Storytelling Reframes Systemic Barriers & Trauma

Part One of this series, which will take place on Thursday June 23 at 6:00 p.m., (registration details to follow) will feature Attorney Brittany Hale from BND Consulting Group, [https://www.bndconsultinggroup.com/] who will examine the key components of a successful employment discrimination claim, describe how workplace trauma impacts the employee experience, and introduce the power of storytelling as a tool for reframing the workplace experiences of the victims of discrimination.

Part Two of the series, onThursday, July 14 at 6:00 p.m., will be facilitated by Olajiwon McCadney, Assistant Vice President of Diversity Studies & Intercultural Affairs at Harrisburg Area Community College, and whose conversations with attendees  will explore how this kind of trauma has left unforgettable impressions on how we view work, what/how we are open to contributing to work, and even our perceived value of what we bring to our workplaces - and most importantly what we can do to reframe and reclaim our whole selves.

Come for the conversations and stay for the learning - and the healing.
